Mr. Mamadou Saidou CAMARA joined the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) in August 2017 as Director of the Legal Department and Corporate Services.
Mr. Mamadou Saidou Camara is both a lawyer and banker specialized in Corporate Law and banking techniques. He holds a post-graduate degree in Business Law from the University of Fez, Morocco and a degree from the Institute of Banking Technology (ITB) of the Banking Professional Training Centre (CFPB) Paris, France.
He joined EBID after 16 years of high-level experience with Ecobank Group, Agetipe-Guinea and by teaching corporate and banking laws.
With a strong management experience and as a bilingual, he has led many teams. For more than 14 years, he held senior positions within the Ecobank Group, particularly as Director of the Legal Department, Secretary General and Compliance Officer of Ecobank Guinea where he developed the requisite operational procedures for an efficient functioning of the Department and trained the legal team on banking techniques and the management of legal risks. In these positions, he contributed greatly to the development and supervision of the branch network of the Ecobank Group subsidiary in Guinea. He also successfully led the project for the standardization and computerization of the Ecobank Group’s legal documentation for the group’s Operations, Technology, Electronic and Home Banking. Mr. CAMARA was the Legal Director of the Department of Operations and Technology of the Ecobank Group, which contributed to the preparation and management of the legal aspects of all the Ecobank Group’s technological innovations in recent years, notably the creation of the Datacenter, the Digital Bank and Online Banking. As Expert in Business and Banking Law, he was, for several years, a member of the Ecobank Group’s Internal Audit team in charge of the Evaluation and Audit of subsidiaries including Ecobank Burkina Faso, eProcess Burkina and Ecobank Nigeria. He was also the Secretary General of the Ecobank Group’s technology subsidiary and Computershare Panafrican Ghana Limited and Computershare Panafrica Ghana Nominee Limited, two joint-venture companies between the Ecobank Group and the Computershare Group in the registration of shares in Ghana.
Mr. Mamadou Saidou CAMARA has for several years held the position of lecturer-researcher in Business Law, International Business Law, Banking and Exchange Law in Guinea.
