Togo Appointed New Chair of EBID Board of Governors
The 18th Ordinary Meeting of the Board of Governors of ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) held at the headquarters of the Bank in Lomé, Togolese Republic, unanimously appointed the Honourable Minister of Finance and Economy of the Republic of Togo, Mr. Sani Yaya, as new Chairman of the Board of Governors. He took over from the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Mr. Jacob Jusu Saffa. The Board comprises the Ministers of Finance or Ministers of Planning of the fifteen (15) ECOWAS Member States.
In a short interview after the appointment, the President of EBID, Dr. George Agyekum Donkor, indicated that Mr. Sani Yaya’s appointment was well deserved, and a reflection of his industry and versatility. The President of EBID emphasized that the new Chairman’s professional antecedents in finance and banking including his service in the public sector will help drive substantial growth, development and value creation. Dr. Donkor pledged to work closely with the new Chairman in order to position the Bank to the next level.
The Board also approved the audited accounts for the year ended 31st December 2019 which showed that the Bank recorded an operating profit in the amount of Five million six hundred and fifty-five thousand eight hundred and eight United States Dollars (USD5,655,808).
