EBID President meets with German Ambassador to Togo to discuss opening up the Bank’s capital to non-regional investors

The President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), Dr George Agyekum Donkor, received a courtesy visit from Dr. Claudius Fischbach, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Togo, on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the headquarters of the Institution.

The purpose of this courtesy visit was to strengthen the collaboration between EBID and the Republic of Germany but also to raise the Bank’s Strategy of opening up its capital to non-regional investors.

During the meeting, Dr Donkor recalled the essence of the Bank which is to be an engine of wealth creation, economic growth and industrialization for the well-being of the Communities of the sub-region. He also informed the Ambassador of the Bank’s activities in the sub-region, highlighting its commitments totaling USD 4,194 billion in key sectors of the sub-region such as agriculture, infrastructure, energy, support for SMEs and SMIs, etc.

In response, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Togo affirmed his country’s full support for initiatives that promote sustainable growth and development for the people of ECOWAS.

The meeting is part of efforts to consolidate the partnership between EBID and the various diplomatic missions within the framework of implementation of its 2021-2025 Strategic Plan.
