Côte d’Ivoire Appointed new Chair of EBID Board of Governors

The 21st Annual General Meeting of the Board of Governors of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) has unanimously appointed the Minister of Planning and Development of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, Mrs. Nialé KABA, as the new Chairperson of the Board of Governors of EBID. She takes over from the Vice Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Business Development and Digital Economy of the Republic of Cabo Verde, His Excellency Mr Olavo Avelino GARCIA CORREIA. The Board of Governors comprises the Ministers of Finance and/or Ministers of Planning of the fifteen (15) ECOWAS Member States and is the highest decision making body of the EBID.

Addressing the meeting after the appointment, Dr. George Agyekum DONKOR, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), lauded Mrs. KABA’s impressive track record, which earned her the appointment, and expressed confidence in her abilities to lead the Bank towards greater heights of success. He acknowledged the Chairperson’s remarkable contributions to the Ivorian economy and recognized her as a competent and capable leader in the region. The President of EBID emphasized Mrs. KABA’s extensive leadership experience in both the public and private sectors, particularly in Development Finance Institutions across Africa. He also highlighted her professional proficiency in Research, International and Development Economics, and Statistics. Dr. DONKOR expressed his optimism that Mrs. KABA’s multifaceted experiences will prove valuable to EBID as it continues to establish itself as the premier Development Finance institution in the West African sub-region through impactful and focused transformation of ECOWAS communities. He further pledged to work closely with the new Chairperson to further enhance the Bank’s credibility and image.
