Mr. Sydney O. Vanderpuye is the Director, Finance and Accounting of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development. A role he assumed in July, 2017.

He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a Practice Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana). He holds an MBA (Finance) from the London South Bank University and BSc. Administration (Accounting Option – First Class Division) from the University of Ghana. He is also an aluminus of the Advance Strategic Management Programme from the Institute of International Management (IMD) – Switzerland

Sydney has work experience in diverse managerial roles and organizations. He has experience in the UK Public Sector Accounting where he worked extensively with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. He then worked with Ernst & Young (Ghana) involved in and led a number of Audit and Consultancy assignments. In 2006 he was a pioneer staff of the Intercontinental Bank Ghana Limited which was later taken over by Access Bank. In both banks he led various functions including Finance, Corporate Strategy, Performance Management, Internal Control, Corporate Finance, Customer Care and Electronic Banking Business.

He joined Societe Generale in 2012 as Head, Accounts and was subsequently appointed Head, Finance where he was involved in the financing aspects of sourcing funding from the European Investment Bank (EIB), Proparco and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). He also led valuation exercises and corporate finance activities leading to major operational efficiency decisions. His strong taxation background was instrumental in ensuring sound taxation practices in the Bank.

Sydney has facilitated training programs for financial institutions in Ghana and also covered sessions on Accounting and Performance Measurement in Banking at the University of Ghana Business School.
