Corporate Social Responsibility –  EBID Donates Resources to Enhance Education in Côte d’Ivoire

The ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting education to develop the future workforce required for regional economic growth. The Bank displayed this dedication by donating classroom furniture, computer equipment and books during a ceremony organized by La Matrice NGO at the Groupe Scolaire Plateau de Bingerville in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire on March 20, 2024. EBID extended another FCFA 50 million to support other infrastructure initiatives of the school trough the NGO La Matrice.

While presenting the items, the President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of EBID, Dr. George Agyekum Donkor emphasized the importance of training students for today’s technology driven-workplace.  Recalling previous donations, including the construction of a wall to ensure student safety at the school in 2021, he underscored the role of education in the fight against poverty, which is core to the Bank’s mandate.

The donation in Côte d’Ivoire is part of EBID’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy, which aims to improve the quality of life for Communities in the ECOWAS sub-region by supporting activities aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The President of EBID was accompanied by the Bank’s Vice-President in charge of Risk and Controls, Dr. Mory Soumahoro, for the ceremony, which included the Mayor of and Sub-Prefect of Bingerville as well as other community leaders and officials. In concluding his remarks, the President of EBID thanked the NGO La Matrice and in particular its Chairperson Mrs Annie-Anicou Lecadou Kacou, also Director of EBID, for the efforts made to improve education in Côte d’Ivoire and pledged the Bank’s unwavering support.
