22nd Annual- General Meeting of the Board of Governors of EBID

The Board of Governors of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), comprising the Ministers of Finance and Planning of the Fifteen ECOWAS Member States, held its 22nd Ordinary Session on 21st March 2024 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The session, chaired by the outgoing Chairman and Governor for Cote d’Ivoire, Honourable Niale Kaba, Minister of Economy, Planning and Development, considered various items including the Bank’s financial statements and the election of a new Chairperson.

In his opening remarks, the President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of EBID, Dr George Agyekum Donkor, expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Chairperson for her guidance throughout her tenure, while thanking the Board for its unwavering support. Citing the achievements made in 2023, including a 12% increase in profits despite the harsh global financial climate, Dr Donkor assured the Board of the Bank’s commitment to growing strategically to position itself as the go-to development partner for the ECOWAS sub-region.

The outgoing Chairman of the Board of Governors, Honourable Niale Kaba, commended Dr Donkor and his team for the Bank’s impressive performance in the implementation of the Strategic Plan 2021- 2025. The Minister also called on her fellow Governors to support the Bank’s overall strategic growth while fulfilling its mandate of providing competitive resources for development projects.

During this session, the Board also appointed a new Chairman of the Board of Governors of EBID, Honourable Seedy Keita, Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs of The Gambia. Honourable Seedy Keita, who will serve a term of one year, pledged his full support to ensure that the Bank continues to accomplish great feats despite the global downturn.
