COVID-19, EBID Supports ECOWAS Members States with $1.5m

The ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) has donated the amount of one million five hundred thousand United States dollars ($1.5m) to assist in strengthening the bold emergency measures that ECOWAS Member States are taking to fight the coronavirus (COVID-19) menace.

Estimates indicate that the ECOWAS region has the third largest number of confirmed cases in Africa, and projected to peak in the coming weeks.  The solidarity gesture from EBID is in line with its sensitivity to the unfolding impact of the deadly scourge in an already fragile social and economic environment during these unprecedented times.

The Bank also noted that apart from having created a global health crisis with a profound impact on existing health infrastructure, the explosion of the COVID-19 pandemic was also a critical moment in the history of mankind which demanded that  EBID stood in solidarity with steps taken by ECOWAS Member States to save and protect lives the millions of lives in the region.
