The Board of Governors of the\u00a0Nobel International Business School (NiBS) University\u00a0has appointed\u00a0Dr George Agyekum Donkor, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the\u00a0ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), as its inaugural Chancellor. The investiture ceremony took place on\u00a0March 22, 2025, in Accra, Ghana, under the distinguished patronage of\u00a0His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, who was represented by\u00a0Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration. The event was graced with the presence of high-profile international dignitaries, leading figures in academia, and top corporate executives, underscoring NiBS\u2019s growing influence in global education and development.<\/p>\n

\"\"In his\u00a0acceptance speech, Dr. Donkor\u00a0celebrated\u00a0Ghana\u2019s history as one of\u00a0resilience, relentless pursuit of knowledge, and self-determination. He emphasised that since the establishment of\u00a0the country\u2019s premier universities\u00a0to the rise of newer institutions such as the NiBS University, education has been\u00a0central\u00a0to Ghana\u2019s national development.\u00a0Furthermore, he stressed that the quality of a nation\u2019s educational system\u00a0directly influences\u00a0the calibre of its leadership, the competitiveness of its industries, and its\u00a0long-term\u00a0economic prosperity.<\/p>\n

Dr. Donkor also called on all stakeholders to recognise that traditional business education alone will not suffice to drive meaningful transformation in Ghana and across Africa. In his view, in an era shaped by digital and green transformation, artificial intelligence, climate change, and globalisation, educational institutions needed to move beyond conventional teaching methods and adopt innovative, practical, and technology-enhanced learning approaches.<\/p>\n

\"\"Concluding his address, Dr. Donkor assured the Board of Governors of his\u00a0unwavering\u00a0commitment to upholding the principles of academic excellence, innovation, and inclusion. He pledged to\u00a0spearhead\u00a0digital transformation initiatives while collaborating with stakeholders to\u00a0elevate\u00a0NiBS University to be a\u00a0pioneer\u00a0in business education and sustainable economic development.<\/p>\n

In his remarks,\u00a0Honorable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa\u00a0underscored the\u00a0transformative\u00a0power of education and\u00a0effective\u00a0governance,\u00a0advocating for\u00a0stronger international partnerships to\u00a0leverage\u00a0education as a\u00a0catalyst\u00a0for development.<\/p>\n

The ceremony\u00a0also featured\u00a0the swearing-in of\u00a0Dr. Felix Nana Abaka Sackey, Group Chief Executive Officer of\u00a0IBISTEK Group (Ghana), as the new Deputy Chancellor of NiBS University.<\/p>\n
