The renewed commitment was made when the President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of EBID,\u00a0<strong>Dr George Agyekum Donkor<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong>\u00a0paid a working visit to The Gambia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr George Agyekum Donkor<\/strong>\u00a0recounted the support EBID had extended to the Gambia in the past through the funding of the Government\u2019s\u00a0<strong>rural electrification project and construction of the Mandinaba-Soma Road<\/strong>\u00a0and gave firm assurances of the Bank\u2019s intention to support projects in the road infrastructure and energy sectors.\u00a0Dr Donkor further commended the Government\u2019s collaboration with bilateral and multilateral partners to ensure\u00a0<strong>access to energy for 1100 rural schools<\/strong>\u00a0in addition to the\u00a0<strong>positive economic indicators<\/strong>\u00a0achieved by the country.<\/p>\n<p>On his part, The\u00a0<strong>President of the Republic of The Gambia, His Excellency President Adama Barrow<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong> stated,\u00a0\u201cThe Gambia has embraced EBID as an internal stakeholder and a key development partner as it charts the course of attaining economic independence for its people. We, as a people are resolute in pursuing the cohesive development agenda as enshrined in <strong>T<\/strong><strong>he\u00a0Gambia 2030 Strategy<\/strong>.
