As part of his working tour of ECOWAS Member States as part of\u00a0 enhancing EBID\u2019s resource mobilization initiatives in the region and also promoting the Bank\u2019s activities after assumption of duty on February 3, 2020, the President of EBID, Dr. George Agyekum Donkor paid a working visit to Burkina Faso from Tuesday, October 13 to Saturday October 17.<\/p>\n
Dr. Donkor was received in audience on 14 October, by the President of the of Burkina Faso, His Excellency, Roch Marc Kabor\u00e9, at the State House, Kossyam, in Ouagadougou\u00a0 in the company of the Minister of State for Budget, Mrs. Edith Cl\u00e9mence Yaka.\u00a0 President Kabor\u00e9 congratulated Dr. Donkor on his appointment as President of EBID and pledged his personal support and that of his country to the President of EBID during his tenure.<\/p>\n
Responding to President Kabor\u00e9\u2019s remarks, Dr. Donkor expressed his deepest appreciation to him for Burkina Faso\u2019s strong support to EBID pointing out that the country had fully paid its capital subscription.\u00a0 Dr. Donkor disclosed that EBID had invested about One Hundred and Ninety-Six Million United States Dollars (US$196 million) in the private and public sectors of the country\u2019s economy in areas \u00a0such as education, energy, financial services, industry, infrastructure, rural development, among others.<\/p>\n
Dr. Donkor during his visit also signed a loan agreement with Burkina Faso. The agreement which was in the sum of Nine Million and Four hundred thousand United States Dollars (US$ 9.4 million) for the construction of twenty-seven (27) portable water supply system in the \u201cBoucle du Mouhoun\u201d and \u201cHauts Bassins\u201d regions. This project is part and parcel of the 2016 \u2013 2020 National Economic and Social Development Plan of Burkina Faso and resonates with EBID priority areas.<\/p>\n
The Minister for Finance, Economy and Development, Honourable Lassane KABORE, signed the loan agreement on behalf of Burkina Faso. The ceremony was witnessed by the Minister of State for Budget, Mrs. Edith Cl\u00e9mence Yaka, the Minister of Infrastructure, Mr. Eric Bougouma, and the Minister for Water Resources and Sanitation, Mr. Ambroise Ou\u00e9draogo.<\/p>\n
During the working visit to Burkina Faso, the President of EBID also held discussions on other areas of cooperation with Ministers of Trade, Mr. Harouna Kabor\u00e9, and with the Minister of Energy, Mr. Bachir Ou\u00e9draoago.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
